Wedding Morning Timeline: Plan Makeup, Hair & Saree
The calmest wedding mornings are the ones planned backwards from the muhurtham. Here is how to build your own timeline.

Start from the muhurtham time
Everything else is scheduled backwards from the time of the ceremony. Add travel time to the venue, time for photographs and a buffer for the unexpected, and you get the time by which you must be completely ready.
The order that works
- Makeup first. It takes the longest and needs a calm, well-lit space.
- Hair next. Styling and flower setting after the base, so nothing smudges.
- Saree draping and jewellery last. The drape is done after hair so it isn’t disturbed, and jewellery goes on at the end.
- Final check and touch-ups before you leave.
Don’t forget the family
If your mother, sisters or bridesmaids are also getting ready, plan their looks around your timeline. Group bookings with one artist or team are scheduled so everyone is ready at the same time.
Practical tips
- Decide where you will get ready; a bright room near a window is ideal.
- Keep outfits, jewellery and accessories laid out the evening before.
- Eat and drink water; a long morning is easier when you are comfortable.
- Ask your artist for a start time once they know your venue and ceremony schedule.
